The aerial landscape in its technical form is a phenomenon of the 20^th century. It is interesting, however, to note depictions of aerial landscapes in ancient Australian Indigenous artwork.

The works James produces are interpreted from aerial photographs obtainable from mapping authorities in most countries.

Working with digital photographs of both the nude female form and the Australian landscape produces combinations outside the realm of normality but well within the bounds of  artistic imaginings. The photographic images come from the artist's travels around Australia and are merged to blend the nude subject into a surreal environment, a combination creating contented conflicts.
